Adopting a Hiring Corner Registration/Intake

Hello! You have reached form because you have found out about Chicago’s Adopt a Corner effort. This form serves as our way of easily funneling you into the existing chats and also to provide some context prior to your engagement. However, what we mean is that folks are deciding to visit their local hiring corner in Chicago and becoming responsible for the day laborers. This means creating relationships with community members that wake up early in the day to visit the same public spaces hoping to find some form of work in order to keep themselves afloat in this turbulent time. In this current context, we have seen and noted the persistent targeting of this vulnerable population alongside others in predominantly brown and black communities. We are taking a non-escalating and supportive approach to much of the work that folks have been doing through rapid response and Migra watch. Particularly, we want to adopt spaces and persistently stay there. Providing information on people’s rights and organizing community-based solutions for the struggles our communities endure during a time of governmental inflicted violence. Rapid Response & Migra-Watch training is not immediately required but is appreciated! We have access to those trainings if folks ask.
