What to Say When You Call Congress
1. Simply call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard, (202) 224-3121, and ask to be connected to the office of your Representative or Senator. The switchboard operator can help identify your representative if you provide your zip code. 2. When you’re connected to the office, Press #2 on your phone to speak to a staff member. 3. When the staff member answers, here’s what to say: “Hi, thanks for taking my call. I’m calling to ask the (Congressperson/ Senator) to get Congress to pass a Federal Jobs Guarantee. Everyone deserves a decent job, too many people that I know don’t have one. Your support for this will make a difference in how I vote.”
